What Is WestGrid?
WestGrid operates high performance computing (HPC), collaboration and
visualization infrastructure across western Canada. It encompasses 14
partner institutions across four provinces. WestGrid was the first
resource provider in Canada to adopt a grid-enabled system for its
HPC, collaboration and scientific visualization resources. Within two
years, this system has enabled WestGrid to build a user community
across Canada in disciplines ranging from the sciences and engineering
to arts and humanities. WestGrid has a cohesive team of technical
staff and system architects to support these users.
Who is eligible for a WestGrid account?
WestGrid facilities are designated for Canadian researchers or those
collaborating on Canadian research projects. In general, any academic
researcher from a Canadian research institution with significant high
performance computing requirements to support his or her research may
apply for an account on WestGrid.
WestGrid Seminar: Introduction to Grid Technologies
Date:
Wednesday, February 6, 2008
Time:
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Location:

Grid technologies are changing the way research is done. This seminar
will explore what these technologies are and how researchers can
benefit from using them. Current support for grid technologies in
WestGrid will also be discussed.
WestGrid operates high performance computing (HPC), collaboration and
visualization infrastructure across western Canada. The University of
Manitoba joined WestGrid in April of 2006 and is one of 14 partner
institutions across four provinces.
For those of you who are unable to attend, the seminar will be webcast
live. A link to the webcast will be posted at www.westgrid.ca just
