Thought I'd pass along information on new bike
parking requirements in Calgary and a bike parking handbook that was
prepared in 2002. According to my contact with the City of
Calgary, the proposed bylaw from 2002 described in the handbook was
never officially adopted but their Transportation department refers to it
heavily when making recommendings on new development permit applications
and developers have generally been following the recommendations
in it.
He also noted that Calgary's new "Land Use
bylaw incorporates bicycle parking as
described in the Bicycle Parking Handbook. Unfortunately there are no
easy-to-follow
tables of bike parking requirements within the new
Bylaw. However, bicycle parking requirements can be looked up for various
uses within it."
