Subject: November 2011 Competition - Graduate Enhancement of Tricouncil
Stipends (GETS)
The Faculty of Graduate Studies in collaboration with the Offices of the
Vice-President (Academic) and Provost, and Vice-President (Research) are
pleased to announce the November 2011 competition of the Graduate
Enhancement of Tri-council Stipends (GETS) program and fund. The purpose of
this graduate student support program is to enhance through "matching"
funding the number of doctoral and master's students funded from tri-council
grants. By increasing our competitiveness in attracting tri-council funds
we increase the quota of tri-council scholarships available to our graduate
students as well as our quota of Canada Research Chairs and indirect cost of
research funds.
As indicated in the program guidelines, the GETS program will be supported
through baseline funds allocated in the 2011-2012 operating budget for the
purposes of academic enhance ($350k) and the Faculty of Graduate Studies RA
fund ($350k), which has been discontinued and rolled into this new funding
program. The GETS program guidelines have been developed in consultation
with the associate deans (research) / research liaison officers network.
Completed applications are due in the Faculty of Graduate Studies no later
than 15 Nov 2011.
I encourage you to carefully read the guidelines for the GETS program to
ensure eligibility before applying. An application form and the GETS
guidelines can be found on the FGS website at the following link:

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Marcia

Hello,
The following email was sent to Department Heads, Grad Chairs and Deans and
Directors. Unfortunately I do not have a list of administrative assistants
or other department staff responsible for assisting professors with paying
their students a stipend. Could you assist me by forwarding this email to
the appropriate person in your department office?
Thank you,
Marcia
