Dr. Marc Del Bigio
Canada Research Chair in Developmental Neuropathology (Tier 1)
Professor - Department of Pathololgy, University of Manitoba
Chair - Specialty Committee in Neuropathology, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

Topic:  Pathogenesis of damage in the immature brain following hemorrhage.

Summary of Research:
Dr. Del Bigio is one of the few neuropathologists in the world who excels at both clinical and experimental neuropathology. He has investigated in detail the brain abnormalities associated with several diseases, in particular those of children (including complications of premature birth, hydrocephalus, cerebral palsy, and brain injury). He has developed animal models to explore novel methods for treatment of those diseases. The opportunities afforded by the Chair expand the horizons of neuropathology by intense integration with advanced imaging and engineering methods.
