If you were unable to register for one of the NSA-organized CPR certification classes don’t panic! There are last-minute classes available on campus before your June 1st deadline!
Caitlyn Farr with the College of Nursing is also a certified BLS Instructor with the Heart and Stroke Foundation. She has arranged the following classes which are available for registration:
May 24:
* 0900 – 1200
* 1300 – 1600
May 30:
* 0900 – 1200
* 1300 – 1600
All classes will take place in Room 218 Helen Glass. Course fees are $45 per person. The goal of this free monthly virtual speaker series is the creation of a space for clinicians, researchers, scholars, and students to share knowledge, expertise, insights, and questions to spark ideas and connection to strengthen nursing research and practice, building a strong nursing community across Manitoba, and coast to coast to coast!

Dear NSA
I purchased a locker on May 7 2024.
I put a lock on and put a cup and a sweater inside
Now I see that you guys have removed my lock and my items from the locker.
This SAME exact thing happened to me in fall semester 2023.
I will need my lock replaced, my items replaced and a refund for the locker.
The items were a
-Yeti coffee cup
-a Cherokee navy blue sweater and
-a lock from UM Bookstore.

NSA Nurses Appreciation Week
NSA is celebrating the hard work you all put in to become the next generation of nurses! To celebrate NSA will be doing giveaways, handing out goodie bags on May 7th 12:00pm-1:00pm, and a pizza lunch on May 13th in the atrium from 11:30am-1:00pm. Keep an eye out on the NSA Instagram @umanitobansa for more information.
Closure of Student Lounges
The main floor lounge across for reception (Helen Glass 202) will be closed May 15-17 for graduation photos. Pleasure ensure all belongings are removed from there for the time being.
Summer Term Locker Sale
The locker sale will be on May 7th at 12:00pm, click the link here<https://umanitobansa.weebly.com/store/p189/Summer_2024_Locker_Sale.html> to register. Note that there is limited spots available. Students are not permitted to use lockers unless they have been purchased through NSA. BLS Renewal Deadline is Approaching!
The deadline to submit BLS renewal certificates is approaching fast, the College of Nursing asks that all students submit their BLS certificates no later than June 1. NSA is proud to offer discounted renewal courses, all throughout May for only 55$! Mentorship Program
The Mentorship Program was established based on the NSA’s burning desire to help students succeed, not only in their academic pursuits but in all aspects of life. The NSA hopes that this program will impact all nursing students in a positive way by helping to build a friendly and sociable environment of skilled and reputable nursing students. If you are interested in being a mentee or mentor please refer to the original email sent out titled NSA Mentorship Program. The deadline to apply is May 17 at 23:59.
New Student Workshop
Calling all year 2 term 1 students. The NSA mentorship team is hosting a new student workshop to help students ease into nursing! On May 6th students can ask questions, get study tips, and enjoy free pizza. Please see the NSA Instagram post to RSVP to the event. Hello Midwifery and Nursing Learners!
Please visit: https://umanitoba.ca/nursing/student-experience/resources-undergraduate-stu… for a listing of scholarships available, as the form to submit your application is now open.
NSA Scholarships are available to all midwifery and nursing students - including those studying on the campuses of UCN in Thompson and The Pas. You must submit the Form to be considered.
The following 4 scholarships require a written statement upload:
* Florence Pauls Prize in Nursing
* Jean Margaret Mitchell Memorial Award
* Julia Alice Saddington Memorial Scholarship
* Thomas & Helen Smerchanski Nursing Scholarship
All other scholarships (aside from NSA scholarships and the 4 listed above) do not require an application. All students will be assessed for eligibility and be considered.
Your degree GPA (DGPA) for nursing can be seen in AURORA<https://aurora.umanitoba.ca/> at the top of your transcript under Degrees. A DGPA is different than your Cumulative GPA. You can also see your DGPA if you login to UM Achieve<https://umanitoba.ca/registrar/um-achieve-students>.
Only those students selected as recipients will be notified later in the summer (likely August).
The deadline to apply for scholarships in the College of Nursing is Friday May 31, 2024 @ 2359h.
