The Partnerships, Knowledge Mobilization & Office is hosting Dr. Paramita Basu from Applied Pharmaceutical Innovations (API),<https://appliedpharma.ca/> a non-for-profit life sciences incubator for a talk about how their organization can support life science commercialization in Manitoba.
Dr. Basu is the Director of Programs & Ecosystem Development with API, an organization that:
a) Has a network of scientists to support every stage of drug development;
b) Provides end-to-end support for life sciences researchers and innovations;
c) Provides business & regulatory support to bridge gaps between academic and industry; and
d) Provides venture coaching among other services.
API is very active investing in companies in the Prairies as a sponsor of the Life Sciences Investment Summit<https://appliedpharma.ca/initiatives/life-sciences-investment-summit/> alongside Startup TNT. They support biologics and pharmaceuticals, natural health products, medical devices and diagnostics, and health technologies.
Dr. Basu will be speaking about API on Thursday, May 16 at the Bannatyne Campus in Apotex 071 from 9 am - 10:30 am. Please save the date and a formal invitation and registration will follow.

The Charge Ahead Mentorship Program has officially launched on the Bannatyne Campus!
This peer-led program provides an opportunity for Bannatyne learners to develop a personalized action plan for success and to get connected with support resources at the University of Manitoba. Charge Ahead mentoring is a great fit for any learners who seek to improve their academic success, work-life balance, and/or sense of community on campus. Appointments are held at Student Services at Bannatyne Campus/S211 Medical Services Building on Monday mornings from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm. Learners can book an appointment with a peer mentor by visiting the Charge Ahead website<https://umanitoba.ca/student-supports/academic-supports/charge-ahead> and clicking on 'Book a Consultation.'

The Centre on Aging offers four awards for students conducting aging related research at the University of Manitoba:
* Centre on Aging Betty Havens Memorial Graduate Fellowship ($2000*)
* Jack MacDonell Scholarship for Research on Aging ($4000*)
* Esther and Samuel Milmot Scholarship ($1000*)
* Dr. Barbara Payne Scholarship ($800*)
* The value of these awards is dependent on the available annual income of the fund. The amount listed is the minimum to expect.
In addition, the Centre adjudicates two awards on behalf of
* Alzheimer Society of Manitoba Graduate Student Fellowships ($4000, two awards available)
* University of Manitoba Retirees Association Scholarship ($1000)
