Good morning,

On April 4th, at a community celebration led by an Indigenous Witness Ceremony, we launched a new, ambitious path forward for the University of Manitoba.

Our latest strategic plan, “MOMENTUM: Leading Change Together,” is a plan informed by our community and we were inspired to see so many of you join us to start this new chapter together. An event recording is now available online for those who could not attend.

Please explore the new website to learn where our momentum is taking us and the goals we will achieve together:
MOMENTUM is our commitment to be the bold and innovative university Manitoba needs. It sets our goals and priorities for the next five years. It keeps us focused on our vision to be a vibrant and thriving community enriched by Indigenous knowledges and perspectives, a place where we advance learning by creating, sharing, preserving, and applying knowledge in partnership with diverse communities.

For nearly 150 years, the University of Manitoba has been a leader in new ideas—identifying creative solutions and advancing deeper understandings of the world around us. From a deep commitment to advancing Reconciliation and addressing social injustices, to creating revolutionary technologies, such as cultivating Canada’s most successful modern crop or developing life-saving vaccines, the University of Manitoba changes the world.

UM is a unique and extraordinary community that does great things. Together, we can do even more. Let’s continue to be creative, be curious, be bold, be engaged, and think big.

We appreciate the engagement, support, and energy you have invested in sharing your ideas and aspirations. We look forward to working with you to achieve our goals over the next five years.

To keep the conversation going, the School of Art has helped us develop a community mural to visually represent the strategic plan. But it’s not finished yet. We need your ideas, your vision for the future, to complete it. Visit the mural web form to share your word that completes the sentence “My UM will be...”  Submissions for the mural will be accepted until April 12, 2024.

Miigwech. Maarsi. Nakurmiik. Thank you. Merci.
