Late this past Friday afternoon Winnipeg Police Service announced the arrest
of two high school students on charges of conspiracy to commit murder.
According to police, the two 17-year-olds had planned to target a number of
public institutions, including two high schools, a local church and the
University of Manitoba. Police have informed the University that the male
and female teens were the sole individuals involved in the alleged plan, and
that there was and is no risk to the University of Manitoba community as
both individuals remain in custody. Winnipeg Police Service continues to
work on the case and liaise directly with the University.

The University of Manitoba takes this opportunity to remind our community
that there are emergency notification procedures in place, including
annunciator phones in classrooms, an emergency web site and text/phone
messaging to students and staff. If you receive an emergency message via any
of these means, please follow the instructions provided.

If you have not yet registered your cell phone/ non-university  phone
number, you may do so by logging into JUMP.
