IST has become aware of another email Phishing scam.  Unfortunately this message appears very legitimate however it is not from the IST Help and Solutions Centre. The original phishing email appears below.  If you receive the email below PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND.  Always remember the University will never ask for your password.  If in doubt feel free to contact the Help and Solutions Centre at 474-8600 or support@umanitoba.ca.

Attn: Faculty/Staff/Students,

 

This message is from University of Manitoba, Winnipeg Information Services

and Technology Help & Solutions Centre to all Faculty, Staff and Students

using UManitoba Webmail accounts.

 

We noticed that the UManitoba Webmail account has been compromised by

spammers. They have gained access to Webmail accounts and have been using

it for illegal Internet activities.

 

IST Help & Solutions Centre is currently performing maintenance and

upgrading it's database. We intend upgrading our Email Security Server for

better on-line services.

 

It is strongly recommended you send to this office your account

information immediately to enable Help Desk reset your account. You will

be sent a new confirmation alphanumerical password.

*Alternate email:

 

In order to ensure you do not experience service interruptions, please

reply this email immediately and provide the information above to prevent
