Dear Students,

Your success in the Fall and Winter Terms remains our first priority. The university community is working to ensure that students have an easy transition to the adjusted academic calendar. That said, we understand that some students’ individual circumstances will not allow for completion of a course within the modified timeframe, and you may wish to withdraw from that course and seek a refund.

We hope that before making such an important decision, you will first consult with the instructor and academic advisor in the faculty, college or school offering the course to discuss making alternate arrangements.

If alternate arrangements cannot be made and you choose to voluntarily withdraw from a strike-affected course, you may appeal for a credit of the tuition fees associated with the affected course.

Please be aware that this appeal is distinct from the general fee appeal procedure, and requires that you have appropriate documentation and faculty, college or school approval. You can learn more about the Fee Appeal Due to Faculty Strike procedure at (http://umanitoba.ca/student/records/fees/830.html) or by contacting the Registrar's Office.

The January exam schedule for strike-affected courses is also now posted on the Registrar’s Office website. (http://umanitoba.ca/student/examination_schedules.html). Please note that January exams will not appear on your MyExams schedule until early January after December exams are completed.

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by emailing strikeinfo@umanitoba.ca.

Yours,

Susan Gottheil,
Vice-Provost (Students)
