[Beth – here is some text to send out to the AT network. Thanks
for being my intermediary. I am wondering if you can, as moderator, add my jackie@resourceconservation.mb.ca
address so that I can send from either? We can talk about this more later…]
Hello AT Network partners,
Thank you to all who have begun exploring funding options for the
Catherine O’Brien talk on Delightful Places and Sustainable Happiness.
We are excited to say that Health in Common (http://www.healthincommon.ca/) has
agreed to partner with us (RCM) on this, so we are good to go!
The details are still being confirmed, but mark down Tuesday,
February 11th between 7 and 9 pm (not sure if it will be whole time,
or a portion there-of) for this inspiring and heart-warming evening.
If anyone would like to be involved with the planning process,
please let me know!
Enjoy the sunshine!

Subject: [At-network] Warming Hearts in Winnipeg: Dr. Catherine O'Brien
to present in Winnipeg
Hello AT Network partners!
Dr.
Catherine O’Brien, Canada’s leading expert on planning for
sustainable happiness, will be in Winnipeg for a consultation in early February
(10th, 11th or 12th – we still have to
work out the specific details). She has agreed to speak to members of
Winnipeg’s AT Network for a reduced rate of $500 (down from $1500, as she
will already be in town), and we are currently looking for partners to help
share the cost of her speaking fee.
She
is a Research Associate of the Centre for Sustainable Transportation, and she
is the co-author of “Child and Youth Friendly Land Use and Transport
Planning Guidelines” for Canadian Provinces and Territories. In addition,
Dr. O’Brien has drawn from the fields of positive psychology and
sustainability to develop a new concept: sustainable happiness. She defines
this as the pursuit of happiness that is respectful of other people, the
natural environment and future generations. Her work emphasizes the
significance of creating communities that meet the needs and aspirations of
children and planning for sustainable happiness (see attached studies).
Please
contact me as soon as possible if you are able to contribute!
best,
Jackie
