Cycling Death Review:
A Review of All Accidental Cycling Deaths in Ontario from January 1st, 2006 to December 31st, 2010


Road safety is a global public health issue. In the 2004 World Report on Road Traffic Injury Prevention co-authored by the World Health Organization and the World Bank, it is estimated that by the year 2020, road traffic injuries will become the third greatest contributor to the global burden of disease and injury. In terms of mortality, cyclists are among the most vulnerable road users worldwide...One of the hypotheses of the Cycling Death Review was that all cycling fatalities are preventable. This hypothesis held true in each and every death we reviewed.
