Recent road fatalities

 On Oct. 9, 78-year-old Jim Aitkenhead was struck crossing Osborne Street. The driver of the vehicle, a woman in her 80s, stayed at the scene.

 On Oct. 16, first responders attended Sargent Avenue and Empress Street around 4:30 a.m., where 81-year-old Corazon Manguerra and a 45-year-old man were trapped in an SUV after it had been struck in a hit-and-run. Manguerra died. The driver and any occupants of the suspect vehicle fled before police arrived.

 On Oct. 16, at about 11:30 p.m., 24-year-old Shannon Joan Marie Romaniuk was injured in the intersection of Portage Avenue and Berry Street. She later died. She had been crossing Portage when a silver or grey late-model SUV hit her, investigators said. The suspect vehicle fled.

 On Oct. 18, David Bunguke, 17, was killed after a vehicle driven by a friend hit a hydro pole on St. Mary’s Road. The 18-year-old driver was injured.

 On Oct. 24, a white or light-coloured SUV struck a 56-year-old man at Notre Dame Avenue and Keewatin Street 2:45 a.m. and fled. The man later died. The vehicle was recovered.

 On Nov. 6, a man in his 50s died after being hit by a vehicle on Dumoulin Street. The driver, a man in his 20s, remained at the scene.

 On Dec. 3, a male pedestrian was hit in a two vehicle collision around 2:45 a.m. on southbound Century Street between Portage Avenue and Academy Road. The man died and the drivers stayed at the scene.
