Hello,
In ANALYSIS V1.X, there is command "set table label=on/off"
To watch label variables or not.
What the equivalent command in V2.X ? Thank you
Bernard BRANGER, Nantes
Dear EpiData lister
i am preparing my dataset now in EpiData, with aim to analyse in STATA.
meant to ask how to transfer the labels into STATA?
Thank you in advance and best regards
ziad
Dear Jamie,
Thanks for the nice response to the query Random selection of records. It worked very well. Epi Analysis has far more features than EPI6 and the documentation is not that detailed. I had suggested to Jens once to get the manual written by the vast user base. Jens suggested to add to the how to section only. If you look at the questions, answers of the last few years (since the release of Epi Analysis) it is a huge database of good quality questions and answers. If these are classified and documented in the form of a pdf manual, it can save a lot of time of the friends at the epidata help desk. Of course detailed command reference (like that of EPI6) is our dream and together all of us users can make it happen.
Once again I am thankful for the solution provided.
With regards,
Dr. Shavinder Singh
Hi,
Can you please advise if one has two versions of One Database and an entry exists in version One but should be in Version Two, is there a way of taking that record across to version two?

in EpiData Analysis you still can do it (combine data bases with append or merge commands), isn't it?

Ziad,
To show the labels while entering data is simple. Use the command show in the CHK file:
sex
comment legal use label_sex show
end
When cursor is in the field a box with the options will appear. You may also use the "type" command to make the label to be seen after the fild has been filled.
Unfortunatenly (or forntunately), Epidta does not have a multiuser mode such as in EPI6. So, when several digitizers work wiht the same file, from time to time, or at the end some one has to merge the files. Epidata does that.
Epidata can merge the files side to side or end to end. I dont know exactly where it is because my menus are in portuguese. Look for something such as "combine datasets". It is intuitive and easy to use.
In this process you have to be carefull not to delete observations in the dataset or a whole dataset and not to use duplicates (merge the same dataset twice). Most statistical softwares such as Stata and R have functions to find duplicates lines in the dataset.
Best regards,
Pedro Brasil

The TYPE COMMENT command is very useful to display the label associated with an entered variable value during the data entry.
Example: go the checks file and select sex then click Edit.
Now edit the CHECK command as follow:
SEX
TYPE COMMENT
COMMENT LEGAL USE label_sex
END
Accept and close then save; the label should appear when to try to enter value for sex into the rec file.

Ziad,
To show the labels while entering data is simple. Use the command show in
the CHK file:
sex
comment legal use label_sex show
end
When cursor is in the field a box with the options will appear. You may also
use the "type" command to make the label to be seen after the fild has been
filled.
Unfortunatenly (or forntunately), Epidta does not have a multiuser mode such
as in EPI6. So, when several digitizers work wiht the same file, from time
to time, or at the end some one has to merge the files. Epidata does that.
Epidata can merge the files side to side or end to end. I dont know exactly
where it is because my menus are in portuguese. Look for something such as
"combine datasets". It is intuitive and easy to use.
In this process you have to be carefull not to delete observations in the

Hello,
I built some data entry files for entering the questionnaires of my
research. There are 2 dilemmas I don't how to solve and which I cannot
find in the help menu.
1. Is it possible to see the labels (like 0 = no; 1 = yes) while
entering data? How?
2. Some students will help me entering data on different computers (so I
copied the datafiles and put it on those computers). Is it possible to
copy records so I can put them in the end all together in the original
datafile on my computer? If yes, how?
I hope some-one can answer my two questions

Basically, there are three conditions in an IF statement. I've tried with the two simple conditions alone and the script works (condition at the beginning & at the end). Combining conditions always gives the 'atrisk' calculated variable the answer "N". Is there a limitation or syntax difference in Epidata??
