Dear faculty members
I only received two expressions of interest in this opportunity. Can I ask you to quickly peruse the webpages of faculty at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and identify faculty members at that institution that you believe you would be interested in partnering with to develop joint projects. See my earlier message below
https://soilandwater.agri.huji.ac.il/https://plantscience.agri.huji.ac.il/https://biochem-food-nutrition.agri.huji.ac.il/
Please send me the name(s) of your potential research partners and I will get them to Professor Cheftez (the Director of the Center of Sustainable Food Systems) so that he can plan the next steps.
Thanks a lot

President Benarroch has had some interactions with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem on the potential for collaborative work with the University of Manitoba.
You are likely aware of Israel's prowess on digital agriculture tools and start-ups, but they are also highly involved in food technology start-ups, and many of them emanate from Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem is also making real efforts to be innovative on sustainable agriculture, but with a focus on the whole of the food system. The Director of the Center of Sustainable Food Systems is aware of the Faculty's attempts to take whole systems approaches to innovations that will enhance the sustainability of production and utilization of grains, grain legumes and oilseeds, and so is interested in partnering with us, particularly because we have such contrasting ag systems to what is typically practised in Israel.
If you have a chance, please check out the webpages of faculty at Hebrew University of Jerusalem and identify faculty members at that institution that you believe you would be interested in partnering with to develop joint projects. For example, their nutrition researchers are definitely interested in research pathways for clinical trials for food products.

Subject: Important information about the observance of Ramadan
[Announcement-Header-1200px-2]
Sent on behalf of Jennifer Montebruno, EDI Officer, Human Resources
Please forward this email to members of your team who supervise faculty and staff in your faculty/department/unit.
As you may be aware, tomorrow is the commencement of Ramadan, which this year will overlap with the upcoming exam period. Human Resources offers the following information that we hope is helpful when managing, supervising, and supporting faculty and staff members who may ask for flexibility and consideration due to their observance of Ramadan:
* Ramadan takes place from March 22 to April 20 this year (note - the dates vary year to year and may not always overlap with a specific time frame).
* During this time, faculty and staff will be fasting during the day (no food or drink), only breaking their fast daily at sundown (approx. 8:00pm). For work scheduled in evenings that may overlap with this, faculty and staff should be permitted, per operational requirements, to flex their schedule or, if they choose to work their regular schedule be allowed to eat and drink accordingly. This could vary from person to person.
* In addition, sleep is greatly impacted as individuals will be waking at 4:45/5:00am daily and engaging in nightly prayers. In combination with the daily fasting, this can contribute to feelings of fatigue and difficulty concentrating, which may impact their ability to work or teach as efficiently.
* Finally, Eid is the most important holiday in the Muslim calendar and should be considered in the same way as Christmas Day or Good Friday. Muslim faculty and staff should be given as much consideration in scheduling around this date. Please note that there is some division in the Muslim community about which date Eid is to be celebrated on, with some celebrating on April 19/20 and others on April 20/21 or April 21/22, depending on the sighting of the New Moon.
If you receive requests for consideration on these grounds, they should be considered valid circumstances. If you have questions about a request, please feel free to contact Jennifer Montebruno.<mailto:jennifer.montebruno@umanitoba.ca>
Thank you,
Jennifer Montebruno

Subject: Study on the transition to retirement among professors
Caution: This message was sent from outside the University of Manitoba.
Hello Dr. J. Cattani,
My name is Maïna Duhamel and I am a research assistant at the Group of Research on Adulthood, the life Course, and Expertise (GRACE) at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). Our research laboratory is directed by Professor Arielle Bonneville-Roussy, PhD.
We are currently recruiting for a study on the transition to retirement among university professors. We know that professors retire later than the general population, but other than a few factors such as years of education, we don't know exactly why. Our study focuses on the motivations that lead professors to retire, with the ultimate aim of improving their well-being during the retirement transition.
We would like to invite professors from the department of Plant Science of University of Manitoba to participate in this project.
If you are willing to share the study with your colleagues, please simply reply to this email. We will send you the link to the online survey, which you can forward to faculty members via email.
We would be delighted if your department agreed to participate. Please feel free to contact me by email if you have any questions.
Many thanks for your help and time, and I look forward to hearing from you,
Maïna Duhamel
