Important Update - Compressed Gas Cylinders

An important guideline has been released under the Chemical Safety Program found here: pdf icon Compressed Gas Cylinder Guideline.pdf

The document includes a notation about restraint:

“Cylinders must be stored upright and restrained with a rack, straps, chain, or appropriate

brackets to prevent from falling. The entire assembly must be non-combustible and able to

support the weight of the cylinder. Do not use wood, rope, strings, or plastic tubing. “

Examples of appropriate cylinder restraints are included as part of this document as well as other pertinent information.  Permit holders are asked to review the guideline at the link above, implement in their labs, and contact Nicola Harris copied above with questions.

Sincerely,

Steve
