CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
Facilitating communication and collaboration between disciplines is essential to address climate change and the many issues it intensifies. The climate crisis and sustainability issues touch on virtually every discipline and the next generation of experts must reinforce the networks between specialists operating in the spheres of environment, economy and society.
In this context, we are pleased to invite you to the 2nd Annual CIREQ Interdisciplinary PhD Student Symposium on Climate Change, organized by CIREQ<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcireqmont…> and 4th Space<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conco…> in collaboration with the departments of Economics<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conco…>, Geography, Planning & Environment<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conco…> and the Loyola Sustainability Research Centre<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conco…> at Concordia University<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.conco…>. The symposium will take place on June 15-16, 2022, in hybrid format: online via Zoom and in person at 4th Space - Concordia University in Montréal. The event will showcase PhD students’ presentations embedded in thematic discussions along with a scientific communication workshop and panel discussions with scholars and workplace experts. The attendance is free and open to everyone.
We invite doctoral students from all disciplines to submit their 300-word abstracts, through the online submission form on the symposium Web page<https://can01.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcireqmont…>. There is no submission or registration fee for the symposium. The submission deadline is May 16, 2022. Early submissions will be given priority for in‑person attendance. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by May 23.
The symposium is designed to promote open discussion. Each speaker will have up to 10 minutes of presentation time followed by a thematic roundtable discussion. Our mission is to foster the exchange of scientific knowledge and to lay the foundation for the collaboration among students conducting research on climate change.

Hello Plants-grads:
I am doing an audit of assigned office spaces/rooms, which have been allocated to Grad Students.
The list of room assignments which I have has become outdated and I would like to update the list.
Please reply, by email, to me let me know:
1. If you are on the list, are you in the space indicated and are you still currently using the space?
2. If you are not on the list, are you waiting for an office space?
3. Do you see spaces assigned to a Grad Student whom you believe is no longer with the Department (e.g., has graduated and moved on, etc)?
4. Are spaces marked vacant, which should be marked as occupied (and if occupied, do you know the name of the person using the space)?

Hi all,
As indicated in the meeting this afternoon, the faculty is putting together a strategic enrolment plan and we as a department are looking for our thoughts on what you think may be effective methods to increase enrolment a the undergraduate and graduate levels. If you could please forward your suggestions for either level to Martha (Martha.Blouw(a)umanitoba.ca<mailto:Martha.Blouw@umanitoba.ca>) by Monday April 4th, that would be greatly appreciated. Martha will compile your thoughts with those of faculty to be presented and discussed at a department council in mid-April.
Thank you for your input and your thoughts on this and thank you to those who attended today’s meeting and already provided some of your thoughts on this topic.
** TWO RANDOM PARTICIPANTS WILL BE DRAWN TO RECIEVE A $25 GIFT CARD **
Sincerely,
Rob
