The Faculty of Graduate Studies and the Copyright Office encourage you to attend an information session about copyright.
Graduate students who incorporate a substantial portion of a copyrighted work or a complete copyrighted work such as a photograph, map, diagram, figure or journal article into
their theses must have permission from the copyright holder to do so. Adapting a work requires permission as well. Permission is required whether the copyrighted material came from the Web, a book, a journal or a government source. Attend an information
session to find out what you need to know while preparing your thesis - when permission is needed, how to get permission, how to find free resources, the details of the
Copyright Act and its fair dealing provision, and more.
