Hi All,

I am forwarding an information which I thought would be useful for those who are willing to apply for a phd program in Taiwan.

"Academia Sinica, the preeminent research institution in Taiwan , is pleased to announce that its Taiwan International Graduate Program is now accepting applications for the 2008-2009 academic year.

In 2002, Academia Sinica established the “Taiwan International Graduate Program” (TIGP), a Ph.D. granting program in cooperation with the most prestigious national universities in Taiwan .  Currently, it offers eight Ph.D. programs and those who successfully complete the academic requirements will be conferred a Ph.D. degree by the partner university and a certificate jointly signed by the President of Academia Sinica and the Director of TIGP. Students in this Program will conduct research in a highly stimulating environment with excellent facilities.  All students admitted to the Program are responsible for the payment of tuition fees to their registered university (about US$1500-2000 per year) upon registration. In addition, financial support is guaranteed for students with a good standing in the Program. A fellowship of approximately USD 970/month will be granted to each student admitted to the program for up to 3 years. Afterwards, continuous financial support will be provided by the advisor of each student. Inexpensive and convenient housing is also available to students."

Further details are available on the website at: http://tigp. sinica.edu. tw/.  TIGP now offers the option of on-line application via the following website: http://db1n. sinica.edu. tw/textdb/ tigp/index. php.
