Hi all,

I am forwarding a postdoctoral opportunity for those who are in the fields of plant molecular biology/biochemistry

Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Division of plant sciences, University of Dundee, Scotland

Salary: £27,466 - £33,780

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position on an FP7 collaborative project funded by the EU. The successful applicant will join a team of researchers, in the laboratory of Claire Halpin, studying lignin biosynthesis and its manipulation to improve biofuel production from lignocellulosics. The wider collaborative project involves 22 partner laboratories, both academic and industrial, in the EU and USA, with whom close contact will be maintained through regular meetings.

The successful applicant will be part of a well resourced laboratory that is part of the College of Life Sciences' plant research division based at the near-by Scottish Crop Research Institute (SCRI). Both the College and SCRI have excellent core facilities. Applicants should have, or be about to obtain, a PhD, and experience in plant molecular biology or biochemistry would be an advantage.

This post is available for 48 months in the first instance.

Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Claire Halpin, e- mail: c.halpin@dundee.ac.uk. (Applications sent to this address will not be considered).

Applications in the form of a CV and covering letter, including the names and addresses of 3 referees, should be sent to HR-LifeSciences@dundee.ac.uk quoting LS/2231/WW. Alternatively, please send 2 hard copies of your CV and covering letter to Human Resources, College of Life Sciences, MSI/WTB/JBC Complex, University of Dundee, DD1 5EH.

Applicants will only be contacted if invited for interview.

Closing Date: 11 June 2008

The University of Dundee is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.

Best regards,
Muthu
