Post Doctoral Research Scientist

Computational Genetics and Informatics

Rothamsted Research, Harpenden, Herts, UK

A postdoctoral computational geneticist / bioinformatician is required to work in the group of Graham King, contributing to the Multinational Brassica 'A' Genome Sequencing Project.

The job will require the post holder to deliver computational genetics and bioinformatics methods, tools and information to add value to the annotated genome sequence, specifically including alignment and interpretation of genomic sequences with consensus genetic linkage maps and presentation via Ensembl.

Working alongside a team of geneticists, bioinformaticians and other mathematical biologists in the Centre for Mathematical and Computational Biology, the work will contribute to the development of methods to enable re-calculation of integrated genetic maps constrained by evidence from sequence scaffolds.

Applicants should have a PhD in comparative genomics, quantitative genetics or bioinformatics.

Appointment will be at Band 6-PD, with a salary normally in the range of £24,563 to £28,418 per annum. This post is available for 24 months.
