                W. O. S. Meredith Fellowship for Barley Research

                Syngenta Graduate Scholarship



Enclosed please find copies of the Terms of Reference and advertisements for each of the above-named scholarships in graduate studies. The Lord Selkirk Scholarship will provide support to a graduate student "doing research in methods farmers may use to add value to their products before leaving the farm gate." The W. O. S. Meredith Fellowship "is intended to extend research in barley science by encouraging and providing support to a student who is conducting graduate research in this field." The Syngenta Graduate Scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student who "is conducting research in sustainable agriculture in the following areas: environmental quality and resources management, integrated pest management, introduction of new technologies, economic viability and rural community sustainability."

 

To apply, students should submit the following:

1.

a) Lord Selkirk Scholarship: One-page description of their research and its applicability to current farm practices (also, state how the project increases value to the farmers products). Include the student’s name and current year of study.

b) W. O. S. Meredith Fellowship: Two-page summary of their current/proposed research and how it relates to area of barley science. Include the student’s name and current year of study.

c) Syngenta Graduate Scholarships: One-page description of their research and its applicability to sustainable agriculture. Include the student’s name and current year of study.

 

2. A copy (photocopy is acceptable) of their transcripts.

 

Applications are to submitted to the Student Services Office, Room 160 Agriculture Building, by March 13, 2013.
