Joanne and Fouad: We have a new scientist that is downtown at our CCARM labs in St. Boniface and is presenting a seminar this Friday, January 25th at 1:00 PM at the CRC Conference Room. Could you please make appropriate announcements to the staff on my behalf? The details are below:
Title: "Subcellular mechanisms underlying cardiac function in heart disease: Beneficial effects of resveratrol"
Presenter: Dr. Thomas Netticadan
Biographical info: I obtained a PhD in Physiology from the University of Bombay, India, in 1993 and went for Postdoctoral experience (1993-1996) to INSERM Paris, France and University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. I was a Research Associate from 1996-2001 at the University of Manitoba. I was an Assistant Professor in Department of Physiology at the University of Manitoba (U. of M.) from 2001-2007. In 2007 I joined Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada as a Research Scientist and am stationed at the Canadian Centre for Agri-Food Research in Health and Medicine in St. Boniface Hospital Research Centre. I am also an Adjunct Professor with the Department of Physiology, U. of M. since 2007. My area of research has been studying the function and regulation of heart function in normal and diseased hearts. I am a Scholar of the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and received the New Investigator Award (a five year salary support award from 2004 to 2009).
Thanks,
Tom
