University of Manitoba Faculty of Graduate Studies

To All Graduate Students

The Faculty of Graduate Studies, the Vice-Provost (Students) and the University of Manitoba Graduate Student’s Association (UMGSA) are pleased to offer a $100.00 subsidy on Part-Time Academic English Courses (PTAEC) offered by The English Language Centre (ELC) delivered both in-person and via remote/virtual learning.  

 

Students will have the opportunity to express their intent to apply for the subsidy of $100.00 via the application form linked below.  If successful, the $100.00 subsidy will be applied directly to the cost of one 30-hour Part-time Academic English Course offered in the Fall 2022 term.  Once approved for the subsidy, students will be responsible for payment of the additional $50.00 of the ELC course fees above and beyond the $100.00 subsidy. The subsidy is only available for new course registrations and will not be available as a refund for students that have already registered and paid for a course in the Fall 2022 term. Students already registered for a course are welcome to apply for the subsidy if interested in registering for an additional course in the Winter 2023 term.

  1. Oral English for Graduate Students
  2. Research Writing for Graduate Students
  3. Conversation & Discussion
  4. Oral Presentations 
  5. Pronunciation
  6. Effective Academic Writing

Graduate students seeking to apply for this subsidy must:

 

A total of 100 subsidies will be offered and preference will be given to students who have not previously received a subsidy.   The subsidy will be awarded on a first come first serve basis.
