SUBJECT:             Lord Selkirk Association of Rupert’s Land Agriculture Scholarship

                             W. O. S. Meredith Fellowship for Barley Research

                             Syngenta Graduate Scholarship

                             

              

Enclosed please find advertisements for each of the above-named scholarships in graduate studies.  The Lord Selkirk Scholarship ($1,125) will provide support to a graduate student “doing research in methods farmers may use to add value to their products before leaving the farm gate.”  The W. O. S. Meredith Fellowship ($1,275) “is intended to extend research in barley science by encouraging and providing support to a student who is conducting graduate research in this field.”  The Syngenta Graduate Scholarship (2 @ ~$5,000) will be awarded to a graduate student who “is conducting research in sustainable agriculture in the following areas: environmental quality and resources management, integrated pest management, introduction of new technologies, economic viability and rural community sustainability.”  

 

Please bring these scholarships to the attention of students in your department who would qualify on the basis of their research. Qualifications are listed on the Advertisements.

 

To apply, students should submit the following:

 

a)   Lord Selkirk Scholarship: One-page description of their research and its applicability to current farm practices (also, state how the project increases value to the farmers products). Include the student’s name and current year of study. A photocopy of their transcripts or Aurora print-out.

 

b)   W. O. S. Meredith Fellowship: Two-page summary of their current/proposed research and how it relates to area of barley science.  Include the student’s name and current year of study. A photocopy of their transcripts or Aurora print-out.

 

c)   Syngenta Graduate Scholarship: One-page description of their research and its applicability to sustainable agriculture.  Include the student’s name and current year of study. A photocopy of their transcripts or Aurora print-out.

 

Please submit applications to the Student Services Office, Room 160 Agriculture Building by Monday, March 19, 2012.
