JAMES GORDON FLETCHER PHD FELLOWSHIP IN FUNCTIONAL FOODS AND NUTRACEUTICALS

Eligibility:

  • Through a testamentary gift from James Gordon Fletcher, a graduate of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba, a fund has been established at the University to support graduate fellowships. This award will serve to stimulate, support, and encourage research in Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals by PhD students.
  • This award will be given to a student who: 1) is enrolled full-time in a PhD program in the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Manitoba and has been in this program for less than two years at the time when this fellowship is offered, (for this award only, the time frame for transfer students will begin at the point of transfer into the Ph.D. program), 2) has achieved a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.75 over the two regular academic years prior to the session in which this fellowship is tenable, 3) is conducting research in a field pertaining to Functional Foods and Nutraceuticals.

    Applicants will be selected on the basis of academic excellence, commitment to their field of study, the quality and value of the research proposal, and their career objectives. This fellowship cannot be held with another award at or higher than the current value of the University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship at the Ph.D. level.

  • Applicants must submit: 1) A cover letter, 2) A research proposal, 3) A full curriculum vitae 4) Two academic letters of support; and 5) A current official transcript or U of M Student History which MUST come directly from the Registrar's Office, sealed in an envelope. Photocopies and internet printouts will not be accepted. Complete application packages are to be submitted to the Awards Assistant, Faculty of Graduate Studies by the specified deadline date.
