Research Help Needed

 

We are looking for a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) to assist with the preparation of a project proposal for large scale applied research focused on food and nutrition security in South Asia.  The proposed research project is focused on promoting conservation, cultivation and sustainable use of underutilized crops (minor millets) through participatory on farm research, policy advocacy, and development of value added products.  The GRA is expected to provide support for literature review relating to different social and scientific aspects of the proposed project and compiling inputs from various social and plant scientists involved in the research team.

 

Qualifications: Student enrolled in Master’s or PhD in Social Sciences, Plant sciences, Natural Resources Management. Research or development experience relating to small scale agriculture and poverty in developing countries will be an asset.

 

Preferred Skills: Knowledge of literature databases and bibliographic software, excellent writing and interpretation skills, and interest in interdisciplinary research involving plant science and social sciences.

 

Duration:  Four weeks part time (Beginning immediately), with the possibility of extension.

 

Salary: According to University of Manitoba norms for experience and level of study.
