***For all Master’s and Ph.D. students (excluding MBA students)***:

I am writing to inform you about one of the important registration “items” you will have to attend to prior to registration for this Fall 2009.

Please note that you need to pay special attention to the “Time Status” indicator (Full time vs. Part time study status) that is a part of your electronic file in Aurora Student. The reason is that it may affect your fee assessment.

The time status indicator (full vs. part time) will continue in Aurora as previously set in the last session in which you registered. Please review your latest time status prior to registration.  This time status is listed as the “RATE” under “View General Record” in Aurora Self Service.  (I have pasted an example at the bottom of this e-mail.)

If it has been decided that your time status should change, the update should be completed PRIOR to your registering for the Fall 2009 session. If not updated appropriately the fee assessment will be incorrect.

The request for change in time status must be submitted prior to the registration revision period for that term. Any request submitted after the registration revision period will be processed for the following term.

The decision to alter your time status will have to be discussed and confirmed/approved by your supervisor (if applicable) and/or department head in the following manner:

Requirement to change status from full time to part time:

-Complete a “Request for Part-Time Status” form and having it authorized by your Department and submitted to the Faculty of Graduate Studies.  Forms can be accessed at: http://www.umanitoba.ca/faculties/graduate_studies/media/Request_PT_Status.pdf

Requirement to change status from part time to full time:

-Inform Faculty of Graduate Studies (through your department admin. assistant) that you want to revise your status from part time to full time and also have this verified by your supervisor (if applicable) and the Dept. Head (a memo or e-mail from them will be necessary).

Please note that this paperwork only needs to be submitted if you are changing your status.

-the declaration of part-time status is not applicable to Pre-masters or Occasional students or Visiting students.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!
