Dear Plant Science Graduate Students,

The new Plant Science Graduate Student Association (PSGSA) committee election will be held in Room 218 on Sept 20 (Wednesday) at noon. Pizzas (meat and veggie) and drinks will be provided. Everyone is highly encouraged to come, even you are not planning to serve on the committee.

All of the committee members have devoted their time and energy in various ways to serve on the committee and gained many experiences. It has been a great honor and privilege to work with the current PSGSA committee members. Personally, I have great memories of a fun time in the past year! Thus, I strongly encourage people to get involved with the new PSGSA committee, especially when we will organize and host the 34th Plant Science Graduate Student Symposium (PSGSS) on March 17th and 18th, 2018.  The symposium is designed to bring together graduate students in agriculture from the University of Manitoba, the University of Saskatchewan and North Dakota State University to network and share the preliminary results of their research (or their proposal for new students) with each other and local researchers. Students from the University of Alberta and South Dakota State University will be invited as well. Aside from student oral presentation competitions, we will also be hosting a professional development seminar, multiple keynote speakers, a discussion panel and networking banquet. Serving with the PSGSA does take some of your extra time and energy, but the reward will be great and totally worth it. Plus, it looks very good on your resume and helps your social network when we organize this symposium by ourselves.

We highly encourage you to consider putting your name forward for one of the PSGSA positions. Each of the positions is described in the attached document. If you are interested in running for a position, please attend the election meeting! If you are unable to attend the election but wish to run for a particular position, please submit your name and desired position to Yang Lin (liny3457@myumanitoba.ca) prior to September 20th. We look forward to seeing all of you in the election party and in the PSGSA committee.
