Good afternoon:

I am writing today to share some upcoming programming available for learners of RFHS and the Inner-City Social Work program. These programs are free to access. I have attached posters for both programs above.

CBT Skills Workshop Series

The workshop series will run weekly from Tuesday, April 19, 2022 until Tuesday, June 14, 2022 from 4:00 - 5:30pm and will be delivered over Zoom.

The CBT Skills Workshop for learners is a wellness initiative developed by the Student Mental Health Service and facilitated through Student Services at Bannatyne Campus. This workshop series offers learners an opportunity to learn skills for managing stress and maintaining self-care utilizing cognitive, behavioral, and mindfulness strategies. The goal of the series is to build resilience and improve learners’ capacity to manage stress in a healthy, adaptive way. The workshop series is comprised of nine 90-minute sessions delivered once weekly. This series will be facilitated by Psychiatrist, Dr. Tanya Sala, and Counsellor, Justine Fredette.

Workshop sessions include learning about cognitive distortions and how to complete thought records, goal-setting, perfectionism (adaptive vs. maladaptive), healthy sleep, healthy living strategies, managing difficult emotions, assertiveness, self-compassion, mindful meditation and effective communication.

Registration is required and spaces are limited. Don’t delay, contact us today at 204-272-3190 or email: bcss@umanitoba.ca.

Pet Therapy at Bannatyne

Interaction with animals has been shown to improve satisfaction, energy levels, self-esteem, and mood, as well as decrease stress and symptoms of depression. With exam period and end of semester upon us, many people are feeling stressed and overwhelmed. Please join us in the Buhler Atrium on April 19 from 11:00 - 12:30pm to unwind and enjoy the presence (and cuddles) of friendly and loving animals. There is no cost associated and everyone is welcome!

For questions, please contact Student Services at Bannatyne Campus @ 204-272-3190 or by email: bcss@umanitoba.ca.

Thanks and have a great afternoon!
