Event Description:
Get Your Social Insurance Number (SIN) On Campus
Date & Time: January 6 and 7, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Location: Room 543-44, UMSU University Centre, Fort Garry Campus
Service Canada will be coming to the U of M's Fort Garry campus to issue Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) to qualifying U of M international students and employees. Saves you a trip to their office!
Students will be seen on a drop-in basis (first come, first served). We anticipate that waiting times could be long and we cannot guarantee that all students and employees will be able to receive their Social Insurance Numbers on January 6th or 7th.
Students coming to the SIN card sessions must bring the following documents:
If you DO NOT have a valid Work Permit:
* U of M student card
* Original Study Permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that states the permit holder "may accept employment" or "may work" in Canada.
* Passport
NOTE: If your Study Permit does not contain either of these statements, you must bring a study permit and a "confirmation to work off-campus" letter issued by IRCC (previously called Citizenship and Immigration Canada - CIC) prior to February 6, 2015.
-OR-
If you have a valid Work Permit:
* Original Work Permit issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC)
* U of M student card (if you are a student or U of M staff ID)
* Passport
There is no fee to apply for a Social Insurance Number (SIN).

Supporting graduate students in standards research
Overview for Applicants
The purpose of the CSA Group Graduate Scholarship is to support graduate students in the pursuit of knowledge generation related to standards. Graduate students at the Masters level studying at a publicly-funded, accredited Canadian university are eligible to apply.
The thesis can be conducted in any field (e.g. engineering, social sciences, health sciences) and must include standards as a component of the research. The topic does not need to be related to an area in which CSA Group already has standards. The research may investigate aspects of an existing standard or may explore an area for future standards development.

Award Acceptance: May 31
Value and Duration
* Awards are $10,000 per year;
* Award duration is a maximum of two years.
Eligibility
* Students must be applying to a graduate program for full-time studies at the Masters level at an accredited Canadian University, or must be currently be enrolled in a Masters program at an accredited Canadian University;
* If awarded the scholarship, the student(s) must be enrolled in a Masters program to hold the award;
* Eligibility is limited to enrollment at accredited Canadian universities.

The Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences received a generous donation from Bell MTS to support Internet of Things (IoT) applications as they relate to innovations in agri-food applications. The Faculty allocated these funds to student education (both undergraduate and graduate) under the theme 'Bell MTS Innovations in Agriculture'. The event on Tuesday, December 10th is a showcase of the innovative new projects, made possible by the fund, that enhance the productivity of the agricultural and food sectors in an environmentally sustainable way.
