Subject: Internship Opportunities with Ecotrust Canada's North Coast Innovation Lab (U Manitoba)

Good day,

My name is Nathan Randall and I am the Manager of the North Coast Innovation Lab, an initiative under Ecotrust Canada based in Prince Rupert, BC.

It is my pleasure to announce four (4) upcoming paid internship opportunities for currently-enrolled Masters students, from January – August 2019 in Prince Rupert, BC. You will find the positions and their descriptions linked to Ecotrust Canada’s web site below:

NCIL Project Coordinator: HSEDS Social Enterprise (social enterprise development)

NCIL Project Coordinator: Vertical Farming (seafood enterprise development)

NCIL Project Coordinator: Nisga’a Society Food Security (food security program/enterprise development)

NCIL Project Coordinator: Redesign Rupert Downtown Redevelopment (downtown revitalization project prototyping and research)

These internships are being supported in part by Mitacs, thus, only currently-enrolled, full-time Masters students are eligible for these positions. In addition to being paid placements, students can also use the experiences to conduct research towards their theses/final projects, pending ethics and other necessary academic approvals.

The deadline for application is midnight, November 2nd. Interviews will follow shortly thereafter, with hiring decisions made in mid-late November.

My research has indicated that at U of Manitoba, students from the following Departments/Programs might be interested and suitable for the internship positions:

·         Agribusiness and Agricultural Economics (MSc)

·         City Planning (MCP)

·         Economics (MA)

·         Environment and Geography (MEnv/MSc)

·         Food Science (MSc)

·         Geography (MA)

·         Human Nutritional Sciences (MSc)

·         Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs (MA)

·         Management (MBA)

·         Native Studies (MA)

·         Plant Science (MSc)

·         Political Studies (MA)

·         Social Work (MSW)

·         Sociology (MA)

·         Soil Science (MSc)

I hope you will forgive me if I am reaching out to the wrong contact – I’ve found that internships processes vary by institution, department and program and can be challenging to figure out. That being said, I look forward to your advice and support in connecting these opportunities to the right people; If it suits their programs, I am sure students will be enthusiastic about these opportunities to apply their skills and knowledge towards tangible community projects.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Warmly,

Nathan
