Hello All – A few days ago Jared and I were briefed by one of our 4th year HNS students about a University of Manitoba initiative she is leading along with one of our first year HNS students, Eliana Hotz. The attached material describes the program, which is designed to grow the discussion around sustainable food systems on our campus as well as in the national and global context.
They are hoping to involve some of our academics with familiarity in production agriculture. Please share the materials with colleagues in your department. Based on my brief review, it appears that they have had considerable input from relevant to social interests, but there is room to improve on the life science aspects (including human nutrition/health and production agriculture and food processing options). This is a good fit with the University’s interests in sustainability.
