A recording of the second edition of the Forum on Poetics, Energy and Extraction hosted by Dr. Melanie Unrau (UMIH) and Dr. Max Karpinski (U of T Mississauga) is now available on our YouTube channel. Folks can access this event featuring poetry readings and statements of poetics on the theme of energy and/or extraction by poets Jennifer Wickham, Nduka Otiono, Rita Wong, and Adam Dickinson here. Please note this video will be available until February 16th , 2023.

The Writing Towards a Just World Cluster Presents Dialogue and Desire by Debbie Patterson 
Thursday, December 8th , 2022 from 12 - 2 PM CT   
This hybrid workshop will be available on Zoom and in-person at 307 Tier 
Folks are invited to attend this workshop by Winnipeg playwright, composer, director and actor Debbie Patterson. Patterson trained at the National Theatre School of Canada and is the former Artistic Director of the Popular Theatre Alliance of Manitoba (PTAM)In this workshop, we’ll look at how to write active dialogue, whether you’re writing a script or using dialogue as part of a prose narrative. By playing close attention to the character’s desires, we can drive the story forward through active dialogue. How do we ask for what we want? What makes it hard to ask? How do we ask without asking? The Food Matters Research Cluster presents: Holiday Food: Tastes from Home and Invented Traditions

The Food Matters Research Cluster is excited to invite folks to their first cluster event of the term. This roundtable will be moderated by Janis Thiessen (History, University of Winnipeg) and features panelists : Jennifer Dueck (History, University of Manitoba), Sarah Elvins (History, University of Manitoba) , Jon Malek (History, University of Manitoba/University of Winnipeg) and Erin Weinberg (ETFM, University of Manitoba).
