Wasn’t on email so missed this until now. My recollection is that we agreed that if we could actually get two Indigenous speakers that would be terrific. Pam Palmater is a very different kind of speaker than Jerry Woods, and they cover very different terrain. We did agree that we wanted some representation from local activists, and Jerry is that. Palmater is a lawyer and an activist-scholar. Quite different perspectives.

I hope this doesn’t strike anyone as preachy, but I don’t recall us asking if we had too many white people giving papers or presenting. Only two Indigenous people on the program speaking from an indigenous perspective, in the current context, seems already pretty thin coverage of a series of vitally important issues.

It is later mentioned by Jim M. that we should invite both Pam and Jerry and that it is better to invite more than less. Jim M. says that having 5 on that panel isn't going to be a problem, and Julie adds that having two Indigenous speakers is all the better. It's agreed that both should be asked and see who is able to attend and that can move folks around to fill in gaps.

In my opinion, I think I've clear direction to invite both Pam and Jerry.
