Student Affairs – Leaders in cultivating exceptional student experiences!

I am grateful to the Anishinaabeg, Ininewuk, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Dene, and the Red River Metis peoples, on whose home lands I live.  I am also grateful to the people of Shoal Lake 40  in Treaty 3 territory, whose water I drink.

Subject: Message from the University of Manitoba to UM Students Currently in Iran

Fyi - The following message was sent to Students with Iranian citizenship because UM received several inquiries about supports available both academically and to leave Iran.

This is in addition to the broader message we posted on the IC Instagram account on Monday.

Any questions, please reach out.

Fanny

The University of Manitoba recognizes the growing concern and distress felt by our students impacted by the escalating situation in the region.

If you are in Iran and concerned about your safety, access to services, or the ability to continue your studies, we encourage you to contact your faculty or the UM International Centre as soon as possible at international@umanitoba.ca or 1-204-474-8501. Our team can help explore academic flexibility, remote learning options, or deferrals as needed.

We also recommend that you follow the travel advisories and safety information issued by the Government of Canada: https://travel.gc.ca/destinations/iran

If you require emergency consular assistance, you can contact Global Affairs Canada Emergency Watch and Response Centre (available 24/7): +1-613-996-8885 (call collect where available) or email sos@international.gc.ca.

Warm regards,

Student Affairs: Creating opportunities for student success!

The University of Manitoba campuses are located on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Cree, Ojibwe-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis. We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of our past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of Reconciliation and collaboration.
