Connecting with Care: Supporting Student Mental Health and Well-Being Within Your Role
Mental health is integral to student success and overall well-being, and can be influenced by a myriad of individual, social, institutional and systemic factors. When students experience challenges
to their mental health, they often seek support from UM staff with whom they are most often in contact…you!
If you have questions about how to best support students, how to define your boundaries of care and stick to them, how to effectively refer students to available resources, and how to take care of yourself
in the process - this conversation series is for you!
Join David Ness and Arlana Vadnais from Student Counselling and Wellness to discuss common student mental health concerns and answer your questions about mental health resources and situations you’ve
encountered.

Experience at UM (2025-2030)
The University of Manitoba campuses and research spaces are located on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate, Dene and Inuit, and on the National Homeland
of the Red River Métis.
UM recognizes that the Treaties signed on these lands are a lifelong, enduring relationship, and we are dedicated to upholding their spirit and intent. We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past and the present. With this understanding, we commit to
supporting Indigenous excellence through active Reconciliation, meaningful change, and the creation of an environment where everyone can thrive. Our collaboration with Indigenous communities is grounded in respect and reciprocity and this guides how we move
forward as an institution.
