Hello All,

The Academic Learning Centre will be providing Tutor Training on-campus this year before classes start on August 21st from 1:00-4:30 p.m. Please consider encouraging students who might be on campus to attend. Tutor Training is free and open to all UM students. Registration is available at the following link. If students cannot attend training on August 21st, we will also be providing another training opportunity on Saturday, September 20th from 1:00-4:30 p.m. More information is available on our website.

The Academic Learning Centre’s Tutor Training is designed to improve the overall quality of tutoring on campus and has been provided since 2004 to a wide variety of tutoring programs at the University of Manitoba. Participants benefit by learning about the role of a tutor and the tutoring cycle and by improving critical thinking and communication skills. Tutors who attend training and complete the assigned activities also earn recognition on their Experiential Record.

Thank you!

Best,

Ivy Madden, M.A. (she/her)

Student Affairs: Leaders in cultivating exceptional student experiences.

I acknowledge that the University of Manitoba campuses are located on original lands of the Anishinaabeg, Ininewuk, Anisininewuk, Dakota Oyate and Denesuline, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.

I respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, I acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and I dedicate myself to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of Reconciliation and collaboration.
