Please see message below from Student Transitions and Success and Bison Sports:
Hi everyone,
I am very excited to welcome Ryan Croy to the Bison Sports and Student Transition and Success teams, in the newly created
Bison+ Academic Advising Coordinator position. Ryan’s first day with us will be March 2.
A graduate of the University of Manitoba’s Bachelor of Recreation Management and Community Development program and a former UM Bison Track and Field athlete, Ryan brings both professional advising
expertise and lived experience as a Bison student athlete. Having personally navigated the balance between academics and sport, he has a strong understanding of the unique demands and challenges our Bison student athletes face.
Professionally, he has dedicated his career to youth mentorship and program coordination, with a focus on supporting newcomer and youth in employment, education, and skills development. In
his most recent role as Employment Services Manager at N.E.E.D.S. Inc., he provided leadership to a team of more than 10 staff while leading youth employment training programs. His work involved extensive one-on-one coaching, facilitating group problem-solving,
decision-making, planning, and goal setting-skills that translate directly to effective, student-centered advising.
As Ryan begins working closely with student athletes, coaches, leadership, and administrative colleagues across Bison Sports and Student Transitions and
Success, we will be connecting with you in the coming weeks to discuss opportunities to enhance our approach to recruitment, admission, registration, and orientation for Bison student athletes.
Please join me in welcoming Ryan to the team!
Thanks,
Liza

The University of Manitoba campuses and research spaces are located on original lands of Anishinaabeg, Ininiwak, Anisininewuk,
Dakota Oyate, Dene and Inuit, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.
UM recognizes that the Treaties signed on these lands are a lifelong, enduring relationship, and we are dedicated to upholding their spirit and intent. We
acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past and the present. With this understanding, we commit to supporting Indigenous excellence through active Reconciliation, meaningful change, and the creation of an environment where everyone can thrive. Our collaboration
with Indigenous communities is grounded in respect and reciprocity and this guides how we move forward as an institution.
