MESSAGE FROM MARIO PINTO, VICE-PRESIDENT (RESEARCH AND INTERNATIONAL)
Just a few short weeks ago I began in
my new role as UM’s
Vice-President (Research and International). This is a return
to Canada for me, having previously served as Griffith University’s Deputy Vice Chancellor Research and Director, Gold Coast Health & Knowledge Precinct in Australia.
I invite you to join me on
THURSDAY, DECEMBER 1 at 9:00AM
in the Multi-Purpose Room, 2nd
Floor, UMSU University Centre
when I will
share my vision to increase research impact at the global scale through cross-disciplinary collaboration and a
plurality of perspectives. A strong foundation already exists at UM, and I look forward to using that foundation as a springboard to the next level.
After a brief presentation on my initial thoughts, I will engage
in conversation to learn from you about aspirations, issues, gaps and how the VPRI portfolio can provide better support to researchers and research trainees. The session will be followed by refreshments so
that I can talk with you in a more informal manner.
This is a hybrid event, with both in-person and online options
to attend. RSVP by November 25
to
rsvp@umanitoba.ca
A link to the virtual event will be made available closer to the event date.
You can also see the
calendar listing, and feel free to share with other members of our university community. All are welcome.
I look forward to connecting with you.
