Welcome to Homecoming 2023!
Message from Dr. Michael Benarroch, President and Vice-Chancellor
Hello Bisons,
Welcome to Homecoming 2023!
The herd is gathering this week, with
Homecoming activities for everyone, and I would love to see you there. Come connect with your colleagues and celebrate our great spirit!
Tonight, join me in Schultz Theatre at 7 p.m. for a conversation with our esteemed colleague, professor Niigaan Sinclair. The (twice) former head of
the department of Indigenous studies will speak to our role in reconciliation as part of my series,
What’s the Big Idea?
Indigenous Alumni Connect is happening tomorrow in Migizii Agamik - Bald Eagle Lodge. I’ll be speaking around 10:30 a.m. and look forward to engaging
with Indigenous alumni.
If you’re an art and music lover, check out the free Homecoming concert and art demonstrations tomorrow, September 20th. This Homecoming mainstay
features performances by students and faculty of the Desautels Faculty of Music and the School of Art.
If you’re new here, or have a future bison in your life, take advantage of the Fort Garry campus tour on Saturday morning.
And you can bring the whole family to the tailgate party on Saturday afternoon. The fun begins at 1 p.m. and kick off to the big football game is 2 p.m.
Staff can enjoy free tickets with promo code UMSTAFF23. I love watching our Bisons play and this game (and all Bisons games!) offers an incredible atmosphere.
Thanks to everyone for making our first few weeks back a great success. It’s so wonderful to have our campus in full swing. Let’s keep the fun going.
Register now, and I’ll see you at Homecoming!
Go Bisons!
