Message from Dr. Michael Benarroch, President and Vice-Chancellor and Diane Hiebert-Murphy, Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
Good morning,
Please join us on Thursday for our Strategic Plan Town Hall, as we discuss the current post-secondary context and the process for developing our next strategic plan.
We value every opportunity to connect as a community and this latest town hall is an important, initial opportunity for you to shape the direction this process takes. UM is our place of learning, discovery
and opportunity and we welcome your big ideas on how we can continue to be a university for all of Manitoba.
As we shared in our email on the 13th, the town hall will include a presentation from Alex Usher of Higher Education Strategy Associates. The presentation will provide important context on the state
of post-secondary education and data we should consider as we discuss our future. After the presentation, we’ll take questions and hear your thoughts. Details include:
Thursday, January 26, from 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Multi-Purpose Room in UMSU University Centre
The event will be
live-streamed on YouTube.
RSVP here if you
plan to attend in-person
This town hall is the first of many consultation events and we encourage you to engage throughout the process. Please visit the
strategic plan website for more information. We will be posting the preliminary schedule of community consultation sessions on the website later this week – sessions include those open for registration to broader
groups as well as unit-specific sessions organized directly through the unit. An online feedback form will also be available next week for those who are unable to attend a consultation, or have additional thoughts following a session.
Thank you all for your contributions to making this a thriving community. We hope you will join us at the town hall to learn more and share your feedback.
Sincerely,
Michael Benarroch,
President and Vice-Chancellor
Diane Hiebert-Murphy,
Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
