Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is required starting May 4

On May 4, multi-factor authentication (MFA) will be mandatory for all University of Manitoba students.

Action required:

IST anticipates an increase in requests for support leading up to May 4. You are encouraged to enrol  before the deadline to avoid any potential inconvenience.

You must enrol your account and add a device before the deadline to continue using a growing list of common UM applications. These include Microsoft365 (Outlook, Word, Excel etc.), UM Intranet, UM Zoom and Epic.

Self-enrol in Duo MFA today to avoid any disruption in your access to applications.

What happens after my account is automatically enrolled in Duo MFA on May 4?

If you self-enrolled prior to May 4:

• There will be no change.

If you did not self-enrol prior to May 4:

• You will be prompted to “add your device” or second method of authentication the first time you open a Microsoft 365 application or attempt to log in to UM Intranet or UM Zoom.
