Happy New Year!  You are receiving this email because you are currently registered for Winter 2014 courses at the University of Manitoba; important information about fee payment and other upcoming dates can be found below.

To all U of M students,

REMINDER: If you are not attending the U of M this Term, you must withdraw from your courses before January 17*. Students who do not withdraw from their Winter Term and Winter Term/Summer Session spanned courses by January 17 will be required to pay the full Winter Term tuition and fees for all courses in which they are registered even if they do not attend classes.

*Most students will use Aurora to withdraw from courses.  If you have any difficulty, please contact your faculty/advising office. Graduate Studies students who are unable to continue studies this term must contact their department regarding a Leave of Absence.

Did you know…?

There is a new Electronic Communications with Students Policy at the U of M – when communicating with you electronically, the university will only use your U of M email account.

· Check your inbox often to avoid missing important messages.

· The university has also introduced a new and improved email system for students.

· Find out more and/or activate your new myumanitoba email account umanitoba.ca/studentemail.

Fee Dates and Deadlines:

Tuesday, January 7

Last day for regular registration and Winter 2014 fee payment deadline

· Avoid the lines – pay online!

· Fees are due by 4:30pm.

· Fee assessments are available in Aurora.

· Late Fees will apply if:

o you are registered for the  Winter 2014 Term and do not pay the balance in full by the deadline.

o you are a sponsored student and your Tuition Sponsorship arrangements** have not yet been made.

o you expect to receive a Government Student Loan and have not yet requested a fee payment deferral** (approved current loans only).

**Arrangements must be made every term.  Students can verify the status of their arrangements using the links on their Aurora fee assessment, or by contacting the appropriate office.

Friday, January 17

Last day to make changes to Winter 2014 and Winter/Summer 2014 spanned courses

· The Winter 2014 registration revision period is January 6 to January 17; students may make changes to their course registration during this time.  Don’t forget to check your fee assessment after any changes!

· Fees resulting from registration changes made after the fee payment deadline are due by January 17 or late fees will apply.

· This is the last date to withdraw from a Winter 2014 or Winter/Summer 2014 spanned courses without financial penalty.

· No refund will be given for the Winter 2014 portion of courses dropped after January 17; courses dropped after this date will be recorded as Voluntary Withdrawals (VWs).

Friday, January 17

Last day to opt-out of the UMSU Health & Dental Plan

· Most students are automatically assessed fees for the UMSU Health & Dental Plan, once per year.

· The opt-out deadline for those students who have been assessed in Winter Term is January 17.

o For those not automatically assessed, the opt-in deadline is also January 17.
