WELLINGTON SPEED
LIMIT REDUCED
WINNIPEG drivers must now slow down along parts of Wellington Crescent.
During the first week of July, the city posted signs that officially reduce the speed limit to 40 km/h from 50 km/h on the crescent, between Academy Road and River Avenue.
The speed reduction was also added to small sections of River and Stradbrook avenues, where one-way portions lead into and out of Wellington, the city confirmed Wednesday.
City council has also approved a plan to build a permanent bike lane on Wellington in 2027, with a goal to improve safety.
Cyclists have long pushed for a reduced speed limit and protected bike lane in the area.
