Meet PPS in Saint Louis

At the end of this month we will be in St. Louis for APBP's Professional Development Seminar (PDS). Stop by our table to meet David Leyzerovsky and to welcome Sam Goater, the latest addition to our conference team. We will also have some people on hand from Vancouver, host city for Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place 2016.

Be sure to catch Vancouver's presentations at the PDS:
  • Do Changes to the Built Environment Support a Healthy City? A Case Study of the Comox-Helmcken Greenway in Vancouver B.C.
  • Cycling and Walking to Safer Streets: City of Vancouver Pedestrian and Cycling Safety Studies

PARK[ing] Day with PPS

This Friday, September 18, PPS will be celebrating International PARK(ing) Day at our Washington, DC office. Check out the plans for our supercool parklet, which will feature a human-powered fender blender among other activities and attractions. Stay turned to our Twitter feed for photos and updates @WalkBikePlaces.

If you are not up to speed on PARK(ing) Day, check out this primer put together by the National Association of Realtors, one of our previous conference sponsors.

Vancouver Locals You Need to Know: Meet the Family Behind Modacity

Vancouver’s first active transportation family tries to commute everywhere they go by bike. Meet Chris and Melissa Bruntlett, who in the summer of 2010, made the decision to abandon their car and make nearly every trip with their two young children by bike.  While the decision was nerve wrecking at first, it became apparent very quickly that by giving up their car they avoided the inconvenience of traffic, delays, and having to find parking.

Four years later, Chris and Melissa took their passion further by founding Modacity, a multi-service consultancy that through their work as writers, filmmakers, photographers and speakers inspires “healthier, happier, and more simple forms of urban mobility.” Check out their latest collection of short films highlighting cycling in Arlington, VA.
