Give the bicycle path back to cyclists

The city of Amsterdam had put forward this request in late 2013, and was supported by the three other major cities. Interest groups like the Cyclists’ Union are in full support. In the words of Hugo van der Steenhoven, general manager of the Union, “This is a way to return the cycle track to the cyclists and to reduce their exposure to air pollution. The cycle track will regain its main purpose: safe, clean space for all cyclists. We receive frequent reports from elderly persons and parents of children, saying they no longer dare to cycle”.
