WFP: TWO NEW TRAILS GET $600K IN FUNDING

THE provincial government is spending $600,000 on two new cyclist and pedestrian trails in Winnipeg.

On Saturday, the province announced two projects have been approved under the Trails Grant fund.

There is $450,000 going toward a 2.4-kilometre multi-use path west of McPhillips Street between Leila and Church Avenues. It’s called the Northwest Hydro Corridor Construction Project and is expected to include lighting, benches and new pedestrian and cyclist traffic signals.

As well, the province is putting $150,000 toward connecting The Forks and Chief Peguis Trail via the North Winnipeg Parkway Active Transportation Project.

The Trails Grant for Winnipeg is part of a $10-million endowment fund from the provincial government, in partnership with Trails Manitoba and The Winnipeg Foundation, the province stated in a news release.
