Announcing FHWA’s new planning and design resource on Achieving Multimodal Networks: Applying Design Flexibility and Reducing Conflicts. This report will help practitioners address topics such as intersection design, road diets, pedestrian crossing treatments, transit and school access, freight, and accessibility. It highlights ways to apply design flexibility, while focusing on reducing multimodal conflicts and achieving connected networks.

The document is available at: http://www.fhwa.dot.gov/environment/bicycle_pedestrian/publications/multimodal_networks.

FHWA is planning initial national outreach on this new resource at the Pro Walk/Pro Bike/Pro Place and NACTO Designing Cities conferences and the USDOT Safer People, Safer Streets Summit in September.
