Allocation notes:

To use your allocation:

The process to submit a UMGF recommendation has changed effective 2025-26, and varies slightly depending on whether you are recommending a current student or a student who is in the process of being admitted to UM.

If you have been authorized on behalf of your Unit to do so, and you have reviewed the UMGF Unit Guidelines, you may begin submitting recommendations for the 2025-26 UMGF award immediately using one of the following options:

  1. Submit the UMGF recommendation with the admission recommendation via Slate. This option is only available for newly admitted students.
  2. Complete the online recommendation form available on our SLATE website –

UMGF Award Recommendation Form (Unit use only). This option is only available for current UM students.

Students can be referred to UMGF information and the Award Holder’s Guide on the FGS website.
